A Manly Christmas: A Gift Guide for Him

A Manly Christmas: A Gift Guide for Him

Every man dreams of having his very own man-cave. It is something of a space so masculine there should be a sign that reads “No Girls Allowed” stuck on the door - just like on little boys’ treehouses in the olden days. And every man-cave starts out as any other cave in nature: bare, barren.

This Christmas let’s help the men in our lives get one step closer to their dreams. We give you the gift guide for him.

The Throne

As the king of the cave, and of the house in general, men need comfy seats. Because when have absolutely nothing to do, they sit down ad think of nothing for hours on end. The IKEA EKERO is ice and blocky. It has a nice size that will fit everyone in comfort. Another great option would be the POANG. IIt will be even more perfect when partnered with a soft footstool.

Of course there has to be seats for his constituents (read: friends). The LANDSKRONA is a very comfy and large sofa. But if that is a bit much, multiple FROSTAs will do. But do you know what’s better than an armchair and a sofa? A rocking chair! The IKEA POANG rocking chair promises hours of “enjoyment” (read: doing nothing).

Doing nothing requires sustenance. The IKEA BURVIK side table would be great to transport food and beer to the cave all at one go.

The Collection

Men don’t always laze off and do nothing. They love reading a few good books and magazines, too. There is something organic and really manly about holding a real paper book, a magazine, rather than scrolling on these fiddly smartphones. What to do with these quantifiable volumes?

You put it in a bookcase, of course!

The IKEA BILLY is somewhat of a legendary bookcase. And all that is epic, high quality, beautiful, and legendary is assumed a treasure in any man cave. That and the countless books and magazines that will fill this sturdy bookshelf. Sounds epic, no?

Books aren’t the only things men collect. They like collecting shoes, too. And to display these shoes with all their glory, the KALLAX would be the cake. Those shoes will be icing. But not all men have dozens of shoes. For the minimalist who loves seeing his shoes organized and at bay, the TJUSIG is a worthy companion. It also stands as a bench.

Men love collecting records, CDs of their favorite musicians. The FJALLBO is a great platform to keep several records protected. The top shelf can be a spot for a turntable and a small Class A/B amplifier. It is also lean enough that you could put two standing speakers beside it. Minimalist and stylish. Not all man-caves are created equal. So to save space, the EKBY/HEMNES wall shelf would be a viable storage solution ,for books, bookshelf monitors, or just random stuff.

The Tool

Now, it is time to be productive. We all know that a man who can cook is a keeper. And if he can cook, he must have a sharp set of knives. Help him organize his knives by giving him an IKEA 365 Plus knife block.

A handy man is also, erm, handy to have in the house. To organize his beloved tools, the IKEA SKADIS pegboard is great for easy access to these tools. Not to mention it also latches on to the wall to save working floor space.

Finally, every man loves a drink or two. The HUTTEN wine rack holds nine bottles of his favorite liquor. Just in time for the holidays.
