Halloween Hack: IKEA RAST - Rasty Ideas
Halloween is about dressing up as a scary witch, a seductive mermaid, or being your normal couch potato self and watching horror flicks. Some classics are It. A clown who will never be as famous as the Joker - who is almost as famous as my other favourite clown, Ronald McDonald. But there is also Jigsaw who seems to have you cut off your body parts so you could live. Counterintuitive, no? But when it comes to furniture, cutting and hacking seems to breathe new life to rather bland furniture.
The the IKEA RAST chest of drawers as a compelling example. For less than $100 you get a sturdy drawer with a classic polished wood finish. It is made out of solid pine wood so you can be sure it will last a million lifetimes. Okay, maybe it a million lifetimes but, just like in ghost movies, it will still be there long after you’re gone.
Six Pack!
We all want to de clutter and have ample storage for our belongings. But if we are honest, a chest of three drawers won’t suffice. So a hacker made a chest of six drawers whilst maintaining minimalism.
Of course, we need two RAST drawers. The FIXA power drill kit will help with, erm, drilling holes on the sides so that we might screw them together in tandem with the wood glue. Add some sofa legs, and paint it any colour you want . Et voila! You have a classic looking drawer that wouldn’t be out of place in a Stephen King movie.
Middle Child
We have all seen movies where the middle child is a bit of a psycho. Normally, they don’t get as much attention as the youngest and the eldest. So they tend to do away with just themselves. A bit troubled, but always loved.
When it comes to your wardrobe, however, a center chest of drawers is a welcome touch. Remember the PAX wardrobe system that can be so modular according to a room’s space? IUn between PAX wardrobes you can also have a chest of six drawers, albeit in a vertical arrangement.
Contrary to what you thought, there is really nothing scary about this Halloween special. But believe you me, the real scary thing is clutter and nowhere to place them. Creepy! Happy Halloween, everyone!
