1 Square Meter Ideas: Organize a Tiny Office in your Living Room

The time when corporate offices will no longer be a standard is growing nigh. Working from home is the new thing and more and more people are buying into that idea, including yours truly. But then telling people how to organize homes and sort their lives at home is my job. With flexible working hours, we need to consider also flexible working space at home. How about a workspace smack dab in your living room?

Everyone loves a corner office. And we are the bearer of good news because a nice corner is where your living room office should be. It will enable you to utilise the vertical real estate the corner wall has to offer. That space will be the catalyst for having an organised working space at home without invading much of the living room to store your work stuff.

Let us start with the IKEA EKET wall mounted-shelving. Those are attractive square units which can be placed against the wall and in any pattern and it shall look nice. The ALEX shelf is a great way to organise files in drawers without using a traditional cabinet. Because it takes up floor space which could be otherwise used as your office area. Add a couple of EKBY shelves here and there and place a couple of KVISSLE letter trays and we have an organised corner wall.

The next thing will be your workstation proper. The NILSERIK standing support is a minimalist chair to get you across your workday just fine. It is high enough that you wouldn’t have to exert too much effort standing up in a house errand suddenly grabs your attention and pause work. A couple of foldable TERJE chairs is a nice touch should you want to invite some people for their ideas about your job. Because your seat is adjustable, it would equally be sage if you have the BEKANT desk. If you wanted to work standing up, you could certainly do so with this desk without slouching too much.

The best part is you are home. You can be productive at work and at home at the same time. And we are stating that as fact.
